Minutes of Town Meeting
January 18, 2022


President Charles M. Rhodes, Jr. called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were Town Commissioner Edward C. Raffetto, Jr. and Town Administrator/Clerk, Nancy J. Lindyberg. Commissioner John P. Griffin, Sr. attended via telephone.

Commissioner Griffin moved to approve the minutes of December 6, 2021 as submitted.  Commissioner Raffetto seconded the motion.  The motion passed 3-0.

Committee Reports:

Planning & Zoning:  The next Planning and Zoning meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 14, 2022.  

Board of Appeals:
  Nothing to report.

Budget Status Report
:  Each Commissioner received a copy and reviewed same.

Unfinished Business: 

Town Street Repair:  President Rhodes stated that Queen Anne's County Roads Department has completed the work on the bend on New Street and inspected and reset the drain pipe.  They are also going to install "No Parking" signs in the area at a later date.

Verizon Wireless Service Issues/Status:
  President Rhodes said that he has been in contact with Sean Christenson, Verizon representative, and according to Mr. Christenson his
engineer informed him that they are moving forward with addressing the problem.  Mr. Christenson added that apparently a lot of sites had been canceled, but they thought this one needed to go through; however, it is not slated for buildout until 2023. He stated that he is checking with the engineer to see if there is a way or something that can be done to speed this along.

ARP Grant Awards:  President Rhodes stated that he hand delivered the $10,000.00 checks to representatives from each of the non-profit organizations, which included Bethel AME Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Church Hill United Methodist Church and the Church Hill Theatre, who sent a letter requesting financial aid. He added that he and Mr. Phil Hurlock will attend the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company meeting later tonight and present them with a $10,000.00 check.

Resolution for Pauline (Polly) Thompson
:  Ms. Lindyberg stated that the Town attorney is working on the resolution and should be completed soon.

Other:
  None

New Business:

Correspondence:  The Town received a card from Pauline (Polly) Thompson's niece Janet thanking the Commissioners for the memorial flowers for her aunt.
Atlantic Broadband sent a letter to the Town informing them of a corporate name change from Atlantic Broadband to Breezeline.  The letter stated that nothing else changes except the name and services remain the same.
Maryland Municipal League sent a Certificate of Membership to the Town of Church Hill.
Queen Anne's County Commissioners sent a letter scheduling a meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 615 p.m., with all incorporated towns to discuss the Tax-Set Off.  The meeting will be held at The Liberty Building, 107 North Liberty Street, Centreville, Maryland.

Sewer System:

Flow Reports:  Each Commissioner had received a copy of the report and reviewed same.

South Pump Station Inspection and Pump Repairs and Replacement
: President Rhodes advised that the South Pump Station has an issue with a possible pump flow meter malfunction.  MES contacted DSI to check the pump and repair or replace same.

Other:
  None

Comments:
  Mr. Phil Hurlock stated that there was a good turnout for the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company installation banquet.

Commissioner Raffetto moved to adjourn the meeting.   Commissioner Griffin seconded the motion.  The motion was passed 3-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:17 p.m.

The next Town Meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 7, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.
